PRE-OPERATIVE:
- Provide us with your medical history and lab exams
- Discontinue using Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Naprosyn, and Vitamin E for one week before and a few days after your procedure as these act as blood thinners
- It is advisable not to smoke for at least two weeks prior and one after the surgery as nicotine can impair circulation and healing
- Avoid sun exposure as not to irritate the skin

The procedure lasts from two to three hours and may be performed in a hospital, office-based facility or an outpatient surgery centre under local anaesthesia. The scar is practically invisible as it extends out to a crease line behind the ear.

The recovery period for both children and adults is 5-7 days and is very simple with the usage of a hair band over the ears, for a week.
SUMARY:
- Surgery length: 2 hours
- Anaesthesia: local with sedation
- Clinic or hospital internment: day clinic
- Post surgery: stitches removed after 8 days
- Physical activities: resume after 1 weeka
EAR SURGERY
(Otoplasty)
DESCRIPTION:
Ear surgery for children or adults can set prominent ears back closer to the head and reduce the size of large ears. Surgery may also be helpful for "lop ear", "cupped ear" and "shell ear", large or stretched earlobes, and lobes with creases and wrinkles. The minimum age is 5 years as then the ear is totally formed and very similar to the size of that of an adult.
